So easy, that we take ‘looking like we mean it’ completely for granted. Your PRESENTATION on camera, or at a live event, can influence greatly the way your information is taken.
Prompt Service has constructed a half-day course based on our comprehensive experience where a small group can learn and practise the most effective techniques used to help professionals and business leaders ‘look like you mean it’.
The Course
Participants will be asked to write a 1 minute piece that they will present to camera, preferably on a topic they’re intimate with in the workplace. They must also bring a small physical item (‘prop’) pertaining to the presentation. In that minute they must ‘schedule’ a simple action, like manipulating the prop or gesturing to the prop.
They will be asked to provide what they believe is suitable wardrobe for their presentation.
- Introduction (5 mins)
- Crew Knowledge: Your place in a production crew (5 mins)
- How Shot Size Affects Your Performance
– Each participant will read a 30s piece to camera. Results will NOT be recorded, is this is an ice-breaker for the gathering: NOTHING will be worse than this 30s! (10-15mins)
4. The Deep End: Reading Your Own Script
a. Passive Direction: 5 participants will be reading their script on autocue to camera and the results recorded. Each script will be approximately 1 minute long. They will have two attempts. Direction will be given after the first attempt. (30 mins)
b. Active Direction: 5 Participants will be reading a script on autocue to camera and the results recorded. Each script will be approximately 1 minute long. They will have two attempts. Direction will be given before the first attempt. (30 mins)
5. MID-MORNING BREAK
6. Why You? : Short talk on how you could get work in non-broadcast video (10 mins)
7. Physical Preparation: Combatting Nerves
– Warm up / rehearsal
– Handling word fluffs, why they occur
Last 5 people will go through their scripts, and their performances recorded. Direction will be given where appropriate. (30 mins)
8. Camera Discipline: The Big Differences between Stage and Video (20 mins)
– Shot size revisited
– Maintaining Eyeline
– Stance / Sitting
– Continuity
Some participants will be asked to demonstrate certain tasks with their scripts, but this will not be recorded.
9. Getting it Perfect!
– Accepting feedback, Giving Feedback
All participants will run through their scripts for about 3 minutes. The class will be asked to contribute to the speaker’s performance. Presentations will be recorded. (60mins-90 mins)

Participants will receive an unedited copy of all participants’ recordings as a reference aid.
